Luxi's Century-Old Porcelain Insulator Industry Shines

Luxi County: Hub of China's Electric Insulator Industry

Luxi County stands as a cornerstone in China's electric insulator industry, boasting the largest cluster in the nation. By 2022, this area welcomed 178 enterprises along its industrial chain, with 108 devoted to manufacturing electric insulators and 59 categorized as above-standard enterprises. Notably, nearly half of the country's 10kV and above AC insulator manufacturers are based here, and 40% of these hold national grid supplier qualifications. Additionally, 45 companies have been certified for foreign trade.

A Legacy of Excellence and Innovation

As the birthplace of the electric insulator in China, Luxi County is steeped in more than 110 years of porcelain-making history and cultural heritage. The county transitioned from pottery to porcelain during the Eastern Jin Dynasty, with significant archaeological finds like the Song Dynasty kiln site in Yaoxia Village, Nankeng Town.

Luxi is endowed with vast natural resources, including over 1 billion tons of kaolin reserves, providing a solid foundation for the electric industry. The first modern porcelain company was established here in 1905, marking the transformation from traditional to modern production.

From Tradition to Modernization

In the 1930s, Luxi became a refuge for industry innovation, as significant institutions relocated here, bringing technologies and investments that turned Shangbu Town into a renowned electric insulator hub. Following the founding of the People's Republic of China, the industry further advanced with a focus on state-owned enterprises.

  • In 1957, export initiatives began.
  • By the 1970s, products were exported to over 40 countries, accounting for 35% of China’s exports.
  • The 1990s saw the emergence of private enterprises alongside an increase in demand.

By 2005, as domestic markets stabilized, Luxi adapted by advancing technology, refining product quality, and consolidating capital and technical prowess.

Modern Achievements and Global Reach

From 2001 to 2020, Luxi County welcomed numerous listed and leading enterprises, established research institutes, and founded the national electric porcelain testing center. This led to its recognition as “China’s electric porcelain capital,” facilitating entry into global power grids and ultra-high voltage markets.

Located within this vibrant industry landscape, Jiangxi Huayao Electric Co., Ltd. in Shangbu Town Industrial Park exemplifies local dedication and innovation. With a robust local industrial chain and a commitment to excellence, it has emerged as a leader in its field.
