Self-Explosion: Understanding the Rate of Deterioration

Ensuring the Integrity of Insulators: Key Standards and Compliance

Insulators play a critical role in maintaining the safety and efficiency of power transmission lines. It is essential for insulators to have a very low rate of deterioration under normal operating conditions. Adhering to the requirements of DL/T 626-2015, insulators must meet stringent standards to prevent self-explosion and ensure long-term reliability.

Deterioration Rate Guidelines

  • Insulators should maintain an average annual deterioration rate of less than 0.04% over a 3-year operational period.
  • In cases where the average annual deterioration rate exceeds 0.02% or exceeds 0.1% within a 2-year detection cycle, a thorough analysis of the causes must be conducted, and corrective measures should be implemented.

Replacement Criteria for Glass Insulators

For glass insulators, if the annual self-explosion rate exceeds 0.5% within the first year, indicating significant quality issues, the entire batch must be replaced to prevent operational risks.

Performance Standards for Porcelain and Glass Insulators

  • Porcelain insulators must maintain an average annual deterioration rate of not more than 5 per 100,000 within the first 3 years of operation.
  • Glass insulators should have an average annual self-explosion rate of not more than 1 per 10,000 during the same period.

Testing and Safety Requirements

According to the 12th Five-Year Key Requirements for Preventing Electric Power Production Accidents (2023 Edition), at least 8 UHV porcelain insulators of each type should undergo electromechanical damage load tests during 2 to 4 years of operation. The damage value must meet or exceed the rated mechanical strength of the insulators.

Jiangxi Huayao Electric Co., Ltd.: Commitment to Quality and Safety

Jiangxi Huayao Electric Co., Ltd. maintains a strict control on the self-explosion rate of its insulators, ensuring it remains within 1 per 10,000. The company is certified with ISO9001 for quality management and ISO45001 for occupational health and safety. Complying with standards such as GB, ANSI, BS, DIN, AS, and IEC, Huayao is dedicated to delivering top-notch insulator designs suitable for power transmission lines and substations.

Partnering with esteemed testing bodies like Xi'an High Voltage Apparatus Research Institute Co., Ltd. and Jiangxi Ceramic Testing Center, Huayao further validates the integrity and performance of its insulators, reinforcing its dedication to reliability and safety in the electric power industry.
